I've browsed through it. If I remember correctly, it's based on the Bishop's Gambit (1.e4 e5 2.f4 exf4 3.Bc4).
There's a lack of material currently available on the kings knight's gambit, or the KG in general.
I had to get my used copy of McDonald's work via abebooks.com

I'm looking for a kings gambit book, decided i'd rather play that than the ruy lopez. has anyone read this book? The Fascinating King's Gambit
I play the KNG so "The Fascinating Kings Gambit" is no use to me although if you play the KBG it is apparently very good.
KBG involves 3. Bc4 rather than the more usual 3.Nf3, the KNG.
Originally posted by kmac27What wrong with the ruy? Changing your opening is not going to imporove your game. And , if anything, the King's Gambit is even harder to learn by rote memorization than the ruy. Take my favorite line against it, for example, that avoids both the KBG and KNG: Game 3894421

4. c3 intending 5. d4 is preferable.
Declining the gambit is, alledgedly, not good for black.
Originally posted by Dragon FireI agree that 4.c3 is better choice than 4.Nc3, but I disagree that declining KG is not good for black.

I have played KG declined in OTB games against strong opponents (including FIDE masters) with good results.
Originally posted by Dragon FireThe 3rd Revised Edition of "The King's Gambit As White" by Raingruber and Maser was published in 1995. The book's theme is to play the Kieseritzky variation, though the authors attempt to cover all known Black responses to the King's Gambit. The book's "Theory References" (bibliography) is fairly extensive, including the Korchnoi and Zak book and the 1993 book by GM Joe Gallagher.
