One of my first games here was against Korch, an unrated game but he gave me some tips, nice guy, even if he smacked me around a bit and got a mate in under 20 moves

Good for Korch. I am playing him right now and he whooped me in the first game. checkmate in 17 moves. I am holding out in the second however my defense is falling apart.
