Link to the piece. There is one statement that seems odd.
They talk about playoff games in case of draw city. The last one is a sudden death game, 5 min + 5 seconds. The question is, it says white would get 6 min and black 5. What gives there? Is that a typo?
If anything I would think it would be the other way 'round.

White gets more time but must win in order to win the sudden death. "In case of a draw the player with the black pieces is the winner."

I'm rooting for Anand. Who do you guys want to win? As for Kamsky-Topalov, I strongly want Kamsky to win; I don't like Topalov anymore after the 2006 WCC "bathroom" incident, and Kamsky is an American!

😀

Somebody else explained this above. I think you're totally right to highlight it though. It would be a nightmare if the World Championship was actually decided in this manner.

Sitting Bull was an American, as are/were Deganawidah, Opechancanough, Two Flocks of Geese Lighting Upon Still Waters (aka Phil George), and another couple of million among the living and the dead.

The rest are immigrants.

BTW, the Russian will win.

More correctly known as the toilet wars, or toiletgate. In the 2006 world championship in Elista, Kramnik was making frequent trips to the toilet, and after a time, Topalov accused Kramnik of cheating. The officials locked Kramnik's toilet, then Kramnik forfeited game 5 in protest of the way he was being treated. Kramnik went on to win the match. You can read all the sordid details at the link below.
