There is no question that Radjabov is off to a great start; however, he plays the upper half in the second half. To maintain his lead, he needs to play even better than he has so far.[/b]
Sorry. Beer is influencing reading ability. Thanks for that.

Radj could do it. I still think Topalov will win. Kramnik, if he wants it, is well set up though. It was good to see his post-mortem of the game today too - he didn't look too tired or anything, to me.

All of Rads games coming up are against the top half of players...he does not have a really good chance, but he could do it nonetheless. Most likely the winner will be Kramnik or Topalov, and if i had to put money down, id say Topalov, he more dynamic and can find a result in most positions while Kramnik draws to much...I think Rad cant draw his way to a win here, maybe a tie, but thats it, Top or Kram will make a big move with a couple more wins for sure...it should be interesting!! Im exciting to watch the next round...

I tend to agree with you. But also I remember that Radjabov is still an improving player (under 20 I think) - and in for some reason he is often underestimated (why hasn't he had the same hype Carlsen has had?) so in a way I feel like he is a due a result to demonstrate his world beating status.

I guess we'll find out...

um, right, 2 wins against 4. 🙂 must get sleep...

true true... his win vs Navara was something else, i totally thought Navara was playing a great game...but Rad played the position perfectly...Like you said, we will have to wait, He still has to face Aronian, Kramnik, Anand, and Topalov...there could be some big upsets and forsure some amazing games coming up in the next week...

If he wins--tied with Kramnik or Topalov, or by himself--we may see an increase in the hype. Nevertheless, he is number 11 on the FIDE rating list, while still number 2 in his home town (Baku). He doesn't need much hype to know that he is a World Championship contender. I expect that many chess players will soon know his name.

Well Topalov sure looked amazing today, and is only half a point back now, i still think he is going to take it, Rad doesnt have the gaspower to push for a victory here...he is an awesome talent and someday may be world champ, but its not his time yet...

The next two days will be important for Topalov, if he has a chance to win. A win against either Aronian or Anand could have a dramatic effect on the final result.

Topalov's win today is big, and Kramnik's failure to score the full point against one of this event's tail-enders will hurt his chances.

Lots of games remain, and I remain optimistic about Kramnik's chances. It does appear, however, that Topalov is not yet "yesterday's news" as I had called him two days ago.

Topalov plays another amazing game, wow!!! What im more surprised about is the fact that Rad lost...and Topalov is first...No i dont think Topalov is definitely not yesterdays news...its going to be a very strong finish by him and a few other players...I want to watch the Aronian Topalov game, that will be a good one!!

Topalov has extended his lead. Kramnik will need to work to catch Radjabov.

That was quite a game from Topov. Has the opening been played before? 9.Rc1 was quite a shocker to me, I thought Topov was going to have his queenside managled until 11.Rxc3 made it clear that he was going to sacrifice the exhange yet again!

Edit: I've just checked a database and it seems that 10.a3 is the new move from Topov. I wish he'd got a chance to play it against Kramnik.

Topalov has white against Kramnik on Saturday. Kramnik must win (and beat Radjabov on Friday) in order to win the event.

Radjabov and Topalov drew their game, and tie for first.

Aronian won his and joins them.

If Kramnik wins his game, which seems likely, he will be 1/2 point down in fourth.
