Well, there seems to be an overabundance of 1.d4 in my games. Maybe you should play my games 😛

I more got annoyed with e4. I might try the king's gambit soon, but I kinda like the QG lines a bit better.

Against e4 now I usually play the French defense which avoids some of the annoying play with e4 that I got that usually went into the 3 nights or ruy lopez or some odd variant.

Overabundance of d4 in my games as well.......which is kinda frustrating, as I'm a e4 subscriber.

Feels like I'm playing mirror match all the time.
Seems like in the majority of games, if I'm black...I see 1. d4. If I'm white I see 1. ...c5.

Refreshingly, someone served up the Portugese version of the center-counter.
That was fun....well, novel, anyway!

If im really desperate to play against d4, I just force transposition. (Can't FORCE transposition, but i can make em play something they dont want to). However, I do play the Polish and Grunfeld against d4. so after...

1. e4 a6
2. d4 b5

I've transposed into a normal polish-ish game. dont know if i can help you get people into normal d4 lines though.

1. my rating on here is about 300 points lower than my USCF rating.
2. if my coach, rated 2250, can win with the Polish against other masters...then it's probably ok.

ya i'm sure its ok.....but i'm also sure he doesnt show you his brutal losses......that type of play is great for surprise effect and some good wins....but when yer opponents know you play it....then yer done for....

nah, you usually get to a playable middlegame. And if they know it's coming, they get a slight advantage at best. I wouldn't say it's enough to force a win.

I usually just play Nf6 against c4. i only think i've run into it once. The thing is, c4 commits you to a system against the polish, but i haven't commited to that. I can just play normal moves from there on out and have a huge hole on d4 to work with.
