I had trained it before so that I could do it under 20s against instantly moving computer, but it was months before and I fumbled around in the beginning long enough to time out at 2-3 moves before mating him. oh the pain! the frustration was unbearable!
Never had to do it in OTB play - even at blitz.
Mind you the chances of me going into an ending two pieces up are very very slim.
Seen it cocked up OTB a few times - worth knowing, my be a piece of
chess technique you will only use once in a lifetime.

I learned a few key positions from Pandolfini's Endgame Course.
Silman says you may never have this endgame. I've had the losing side eight times. In those eight, I've drawn seven--two stalemates, four because my opponent ran out of time, and one beacuse I captured the knight. In one game, I resigned after my opponent promoted his last pawn to the second minor piece. I guess I was convinced that he would be able to finish.
I've had the winning side three times. I won on time once, lost the knight once, and ran out of time once (two failures).
That's eleven games in actual play, with only two wins for the side that should have won.
Then, there's this position in a game against Hans (Chessmaster X):
I did not move the pawn, but mated with the knight and bishop for fun and training.
