Am i the only person who struggles with motivation? I find myself looking at my games, doing a little analysis, then closing the game without moving. This can go on for days and as a result i often run out of timebank in heaps of games and get stuck in a situation where i have to move to avoid timeout. As i am moving 'under duress', i often make poor moves. Has anyone got any suggestions to remedy this? 🙁

You have 90 games going, that's a heavy game load.

I suggest you drastically decrease the number of games in order to know every game in progress, so you can analyse every one in deep (deeper than now).

Now you think of chess as a heavy work, you're a slave under the game load. With fewer games you'll be able to play chess with joy again.

(Talking of my own experience.)

No suggestions, but that is better than the way I play when I lack motivation (often). I look at the game and just play the "natural" move which is a recipe for disaster.

Have you tried longer time controls? When you do be sure to only log on every other day.

If I have a game that I find myself opening and closing repeatedly without making a move, I'll print the board out and study in on paper. I'm not sure why this helps, but I seem to find my moves more quickly when the game is printed then looking at the screen.

I recently divided my games into three smaller groups, and try to go through one every time I feel like it. after getting through one group you can pat yourself on the back for a good day's work, and slack off with clear conscience.

it's not a solution though, but it decreases the pressure a bit. the only solution is to cut you gameload considerably smaller.

or stop caring.

decrease the number of games, and take a break(take breaks more often, or otherwise you will probably get so bored that you might want to abandon the game at some point)
breaks will bring more passion for the game for you when you restart playing

That's a good idea! I have been sort of considering putting my games in folders based on time control. I could split my 7+ day games into 5 folders named after the days of the week. The 3 day games will have to remain in my inbox i guess. Good idea!! Cheers 😀
