"Dear Russ: Today I received some such. I was highly displeased, is there anything you can do about it?"

Surely if anyone considers move reminders as Spam, the way to avoid them is to make their moves within the time limit? (I am new on the site so if reminders are prompted before the time limit then ignore the above)

Heh, ok, you will all be REPORTED! What is more dire than a threat of being REPORTED?

This guy can't make his moves on time, but he can sit there and REPORT you for clicking the reminder button. Scary stuff, this online chess world.

Wouldn't SPAM be "unsolicited commercial email" as it has always been defined?

If people don't make their moves within the time limit, they get timed out. Move reminders generally happen before the time limit has been exceeded.

Probably the wrong forum, but reminders can be disabled via your "my settings" options.

Sorry, I was referring to an email notification that you have a move pending. Just like my play, I wasn't paying close enough attention.

I don't normally send them but if I see that they are moving in other games then they can frickin move against me. Especially when you're miles ahead in a game and it just needs finishing for completion's sake.
