Is there any way of deleting an unused account? I recently discovered a player who has two accounts, but they did not overlap at all - he hasn't used the first one since March 2006 and he created the second in July 2006. Also, he has subscribed using his second account. My interpretation of the rules would suggest that he would get kicked off the site if it was reported, but it seems over the top in this case.

Originally posted by RahimKI suspect such players don't really care what their rating is. They just want to play a lot of games FOC.
And that is what my problem with that is. If you don't lose your first 20 games, or say you lose a couple to decent rated players, your initial rating would be very high.
If you lose, well restart. Just like playing a game, you don't like the way it's going, restart.
As for opening multiple accounts to play more game, sure but would someone really want ...[text shortened]... of 1600 each instead of 2000 or something if you had played all 18 games on the same account.
Originally posted by RahimKI would like a fresh start, but reading your posts on thsi thread it's almost as if it's for the opposite reasons. I reached my goal of getting to 2000, but I don't think it's deserved because I have used data bases and very extensive analysis on my games. I realy want to start again and play as if I was playing otb, i.e. no databases, no extensive analysis and no use of the analyse board facility. I have beaten players better than myself on here and only beacuse I have spent much more time on the game than them, it leaves a feeling of a hollow victory. Because you can't start afresh as you say I am actually thinking of going to a new site and leaving rhp to start again and play in an otb style.
Boot.....
That's like getting a fresh start which is not right. Everyone would want a fresh start then.
Originally posted by stevetoddEasy, resign all your games. Your rating drops to 1200. Start again.

Originally posted by Dragon FireI did that on gameknot (from a climbing 1850 to about 1350) where I WAS a subscriber they warned me that I was in violation of the tos and said that I might be banned from the site! (in the end I was not), but decided not to renew my subscription there not just because I felt that I had done nothing wrong but also because it seemed a waste to subscribe to both there and here. I never would have subscribed there if it was not for their holiday postponement facility (which we haven't got)

Edit: I didn't actually resign all my games, I got timed out of a lot on one occassion and on another I played the games through to near the end but resigned when I had a won game.
Originally posted by stevetoddThat's my point... How can they be sure that 2 users are using the same PC? It can not be by the IP address because you can use a proxy or a router...
On gameknot it highlights the fact that 2 users are using the same pc (perhaps innocently of course)
Let's take 2 examples:
- In a company, several people are playing on RHP behing a firewall and a router, and they all have the same IP...
- A father and his son are using the same PC at home to play chess with, of course, different accounts
Originally posted by Bruce WillisMatching IPs would only be the first step in determining if a person is using multiple accounts. That situation comes up perfectly innocently (as you mentioned) but with other evidence (posting style, slipups [posting with the wrong account], information sharing etc.) it can form a very good picture of what is going on.

As for beating players better than yourself because you spent more time on the game, I'd say that's their problem, not yours. If you'd play a classical OTB game, and your opponent would play it like a blitz game, would you feel that you didn't deserve the win if you'd continue to take your time rather than matching the speed of your opponent?
Originally posted by NordlysThat's what I'm going to do (problem is old habits die hard) but you are right of course regarding the blitz etc, that actually happened to me otb last year in the surrey leagues. A higher graded opponent did exactly that and after 13 moves he was 9 points down (actually 2 bishops and a knight rather than hanging his queen). I put it down to the fact that he was late and alreday 20 mins down but when I offered quickplay and adjudication he actually chose quickplay!
