The chess tournament in London started today all 5 matches were draws.

Brother comment: Awesome
I think that just shows infinite mastery of the game.
There are no secrets in chess, therefore it is hard for a master to beat a master.

The more I see stuff like this, the more I prefer big open tournaments where the elites have to prove their mettle against the lower ranks and work their way to top positions.

When the top dogs just play each other and draw, they are merely maintaining ratings and preserving their invitations to future top closed events where the $$$ is.

Besides, big Opens give us potential upsets, and that adds excitement to it all.

I agree Paul, these super-duper tournaments are dull.

You need two top 10, and the rest from the 2600 club.
Then the good guys have to prove it else drop grading points.

Opens like the Isle of Man are also good. you get Tarjan v Kramnik upsets.

and we have a winner !! Caruana finally gets a point...in the 4th round vs. Karjakin. Aronian came up with good idea..no draw offers until after the first time control..

Wonder what would happen if all rounds all games resulted in draws? ten first place shared prize?

Loos like it's Fabiano's tournament to lose. Beat Anand in the 5th round, so he's a solid point up with 4 rounds to go.

In the current round, Nakamura surprised Carlsen with coffee-shop-like 8th move.
