Just been reading about a chess variant popularised by non other than Vladimir Kramnik.(see thread title)
There is/was a top level tournament played this year.
Sounds fun.
Lost count of the number of games I have lost by castling into trouble!

I quickly added "No Castling Chess" to my chess variant experimental site, EvoChess.com

It is not very active, so you'll probably need to find someone from here to play over there!

Once the new RHP release is done (which uses stuff developed for EvoChess ) I will look at making any popular variants available here too.

Thanks Russ.
I don't think it is necessary to do any extra work to launch a "castling disallowed" tournament on here.I'm sure we could rely on the integrity of participants to stick to the rule.

Actually you can play "no castling" here if you use the set game feature and just disallow castling on bothe sides for both colours.

Cheers Pondy.
Never used the set game feature.
I assume it's the same as setting up thematic games

As far as I know, all 'set piece' games are unrated, if that's a consideration.

It doesn't really matter thanks.
Is a "set piece" game different to a thematic game then?
Probably so as thematic games seem to mirror standard openings

My club leader has successfully set up a "no castling tournament" so nothing is required from the admins.
FYI it is rated.
