Originally posted by ChessJesterI understand, and thanks for the advice. Usually I will take it to the end, but I take into consideration my opponent. It has happened before, where my opponent just did not know how to finish and I was able to get a draw out of it, but I just felt this was not the game I was going to luck out on. Let me know if you found a way out of it for me, but if it was there I didn't see it.
I doesnt matter about his other games. You have to try, otherwise you are just giving up without a fight!!
I can't see a difinitive draw, but it is atleast worth a try... I will put it through a computer.

That is too bad seeing how you could have probably drawn by repetition. Oh well.
Rxc1+ Kxc1 Qe1+ and now you chase the king around until a draw or mate.
after Bxb3 I felt that 16. Kb1 was a poor choice (I had expected to be able to play axb3 to recapture but realized after Bxb3 that I would have to play cxb3 as axb3 is met with Ra6 which is bad for white...silly me)
for Black, I'd say that the worst move was easily 13. ...e5. It blocks that deadly g7 bishop, creates a backwards pawn on d6, and creates a huge hole on d5 (which the white knight eventually uses to win)
either way, what's the fate of the last pairing (the unplayed game)
FWIW- my opponent's rating does come into play when I decide when to resign, but if I were up the exchange as you were, I'd be looking for a way to wiggle free, *especially against someone higher rated*.
"Rxc1+ Kxc1 Qe1+" looks like a long chase where black has to keep checking or white Qe7#. Not sure if you can survive but worth a try in my book. In any case, well played against such a higher rated opponent.
