Why do I have a blind spot to this?! Do you think it's cos I'm left handed? 😲

In my (ahem, humble) you're waiting too long to bring the g knight out to cover all queen attacks. If you're going to play the Bird, it's something you allways have tokeep in mind. Probably this is the last time it'll happen in your lifetime. You'll learn the lesson well.

You could have done that in the final round of that tourney we were in and I would have been quite grateful. But OOOOHHHH NOOOOOO...

Are you for real, Exy? Rated around 1900 and falling for variations on "Fool's Mate" over and over...??

Of course it's always recommended in these lines to bring out the K-knight ASAP! 😕

Thank you exy. I don't feel so shamed now when I make amazing blunders.

It's only been twice in over 1500 games! I think I'll just steer clear of the Bird, it's obviously not for me! 😕

I only ever seem to do it on the Bird (only twice to date) when I'm firing off opening moves in tournaments and trying to play quickly. I get thrown when they don't play King pawn to E5 and forget that my next move should be knight F3, I just seem to have a mental block about it!

I'm sure I would never make this mistake OTB, it must be a visualisation weakness when playing in 2D (I hope!) Does anybody else have any bogie opening blunders they wish to share with the group?

Not from this site, but also a Bird that became prey: 1.f4 e5 2.e4 Bc5 3.fxe5 Qh4+ --bye bye rook and game.

Thanks for sharing! Game number two is a classic; something I knew was possible but never expected to see in real play. Why would you ever want to push the g-pawn so early in Bird's?

Svin1, this is my whole point - why, oh why, did I play it?! I know I should have played the knight - I guess the days of blitzing through my openings, especially in tournament games, are over!
