I have an opponent who is especially strong with his knights and tactics, but not so strong with positional play and bishops. Can you guys name openings that would lead to more positional play, and him trading his knights away? Thanks

If he is especially strong with his knights and tactics I don't know man. Hard to say...Hmmm...

Try Durkin's Attack. 1.Na3! so that you can play more positional and trade his knights away.

But to play the Durkin's Attack, one needs a lot of theory memorization though. 😵😵😵

The difficulty you have is that there isn't a good way of stopping an opening going along tactical lines. Your best bet is to try to play him at his own game, you may well lose for a while, but you will eventually get the hang of his tactics - he won't catch up with you strategically if you are right and what he relys on are clever tactics.

Chigorin Defense is sorta pro-knight for the black player.
