And how would you know?

For news www.chessbase.com is good. There are many articles at www.chesscafe.com. When I want to play blitz I use yahoo chess since its free (ICC is superior). Google is your friend.

Yahoo is for losers. If you're tooooooo cheap to join the USCF or pay for a timed site, the Free Internet Chess Site (FICS) has people who have some respect for the game, not the clowns and cheats that infest Yahoo and Pogo.

Thanks for the bash =) but I am part of the USCF. I just wasn't aware that they offered free online blitz... I tried FICS but I had already played 3k games on yahoo and I wasn't impressed enough to change.

http://www.chess-live.com. Standard membership is free with USCF membership. There's something called Royal membership which has certain extra privileges for an extra cost.
