Finally got around to looking at all the 22...d5 analysis posted here. Have to agree it looks good to me. Our initiative continues to be strong long after the queens come off in the those lines - I hadn't fully appreciated that.
I still think that 22...a5 is fine, but 22...d5 is more forcing, gives white more chances to go very wrong (and also seems to be much more popular!) so I'm more than happy to go along with it.
Wonder what our opponent is thinking about the position right now?
I'll go with a5 just so someone will vote for it. I also like the idea of preserving the pawn and controlling a useful square. When we win you can't blame me either.
Someone else please take up my slack. I am taking at least a few days off, if not permanently. You guys decide on a player. All you have to do is message PAWN RIOT with the new move and then set up a new thread.
22... Be6 23.Rhb1 Bxc4 24.Rb7 Qc5 25.Rb8 (Not Rd7 which is just bad. And Rxe7 we play d5 as was pointed out.)Be6 26.Rxc8 Bxc8 I don't like this line. All he has to do is trade down and we have a difficult endgame ahead.
This is from my previous post.
Were an exchange down with a bad knight still. I'm looking at it now though: At first I thought a queen trade was inevitable, but white still has problems on the long diagonal. White will have to try something like Ka1-b2-c1 which will give us some time to drum something up maybe. Compare this with 22... d5 23.exd5 Nd6 24.c5 Qxc5 25.Qxc5 Rxc5 26.Rc1 Rxd5 27.c3. It's actually a very close call. So take a look at all the positions and see what y'all prefer.
Edit: I will still vote for d5. The initiative will last for a long time and I think this line will give us the best chances.
