seems that 4...Nf6 seems like a reasonable move, if a little obvious, we gain a tempo on the e pawn which white must respond to, we develop a piece, 4...e5 also gains tempo but commits the e pawn to e5 and leaves us with a backward pawn on d6, 4...g6 seems quite interesting but does not win any tempo and leaves white option of playing f4, so in retrospect, 4...Nf6 seems most logical. I will not cast a vote yet as i hope to discuss some of the pros and cons, publicly before making mechanical choice. This is what we do in consultation matches in Scotland club so i do not see why it cannot work here also - regards Robert.

I may not remember correctly, but I think 4. ... e5 runs into 5. Bb5+. Then the light squared bishops can come off and white plays Nf5 and Ne3 with great control over the weakend light squares (like d5).
Is this right ?
