I repeat the challenge from above- if 1.d4 d5 2. c4 e6 3.Nc3 Nf6 4. Bg5 Nbd7 5.cxd5 exd5- why does white not win the pawn when 6.Nxd5??- give the analysis- its a shocking move- and I will give you a smiley face. All QGD players NEED to know this! 😠

🙂😀🙂 thar she blows, and then the black king takes d8 and he has a piece up for a pawn and is better positionally. All QGD players put that in yer head lest ye wind up dead and tippeth thine king in disgust! YARRRRR

Don't worry. QGD players already know this or they're not QGD players, just hacks, by definition.

I tried a H-pawn attack, the attack fell apart, but the consequences were very good (for me) 🙂
nice... black coulda taken the c pawn once ur bishop moved....might have given him temp...i just did a glance over

EDIT: well maybe not much on taking c pawn, but it seems that moving the knight might not have beeen the best idea in the world

The Queen's Gambit is a great opening for white, but try out the Cambridge Springs Defence for black. It will give black the upper hand for most cases... :-)

Queen's Gambit is a terrific opening, but black has many choices. I'm comfortable on either side of the board with the QGA or the QGD.

In Game 1851154, black was okay until 14...O-O??
In Game 1571498, black accepted a draw in a slightly better position.
On your second game, after 2. c4, why did you play d5?! I know you're rated much higher than me and know more about this than I do, but isn't that position considered to be a very bad position for black?

I agree, black is rubbish after 3. cxd4 Nxd4 (3. ... Qxd4 4. Nc3 and a good development lead to white) 4. e4 and white has the centre and tempo.

That's a good line, but I hate black's followup: 4...Nf6 5. Nc3 e5. That's why I always play 4. Nf3 first.
