hi, if my king passes through the line of check, but does not remain in check, can i
castle? see example.

can i castle long in this position, for i have always understood that if your king passes
even through the line of check, but it does not remain in check, then its a legal move.
any clarification most welcome.

The answer is still no.

You can't castle out of, through or into check.

It's absurd that a king cannot castle out of or through check.

Not allowing castling into check I can understand, though.

I think check is kinda like a laser beam strolling through it could be dangerous to ones health.

Captain Kirk could teleport safely with a phaser being fired at him. Should be okay for Kings.

Castling through check is impossible because a square attacked by the enemy is like barbed wire, the vital Rook can easily jump over/in it, but the Old Man sadly cannot due to problems with his back

Reminds me of this game where I had white and an N on e6. But my opponent castled Kingside anyway.

I didn't have the heart to tell him it was illegal. Instead, I just took his Rook. 😛
