Im a little concerned about someone I am playing. On a few occasions (two maybe three) We have been playing together at the same time we'll both do a few moves then all of a sudden he'll be gone for about 5-8 min. or so, come back on and move. When hes gone he's actually gone as in the green dot isnt there. Not just not moving. You think this is something to be concerend about or am I just reading too much into that. I will say that to me it seems like he leaves when the position is difficult for him but since I am not by any means a great chess player that may not be the case. And I would completley understand if he was studying the board that long, but he logs out comes back on and moves instantly.

He's probably using dialup for internet access, downloading the games analysis board and then dials in once he's made a decision to move.

The green dot doesn't mean the player is online, it means the player has made a move recently, so if the dot is not there then it doesn't mean he has logged off it just means he hasn't moved within the specified period of time (5 mins or so) because he is (most likely) analyzing the position.

If they are going offline for a few minutes, then coming back and making a bunch of moves, BE VERY CONCERNED. They are going offline to run their chess engine.

It's also possible that they are playing at work or school, and the boss/teacher/mother is checking on things.

Perhaps they leave to go make moves at another site. Lots of people don't know how to use tabs to keep all their chess sites open 24/7.

Never mind. FabianFnas swung the hammer with precision. That is, he hit the nail on the haed.

maybe your brilliant moves are making him urinate upon his shorts, and he has to keep going to clean up
