    queen for knight odds is still a good game - peakite had only a 1/3rd chance of winning from there ... quirine should have lots of tricks to try for a draw - or even a win ...

    Good games. Why would Peakite only have one-in-three odds in a blown-open position six points up and armed with an increasingly dominant Queen? I'm not sure the rating difference (at 1500+ he's clearly no patsy) would really figure at all in a position like that, especially after ...Rg8.

    Never fear - we may believe that - but Xanthos knows that it will be mistakenly picked up by a blind Mongolian gentleman on his way to Iceland ... at the airport the case will be stolen and then the thieves will be caught by the Iceland police who take it home and give it to their children who read the book "Babar loses his crown", they take the case to paris to find Babar, and end up giving it to an elephant at the zoo who eats it.

    I certainly did get lucky, although with Quirine's move rate the odd blunder is to be expected, and generally was more pleased with the other game (until the end). Although I've since given it a quick analysis with Chessmaster 8000 (all I have), which suggested I was slightly ahead before the blunder (a surprise to me) - if anyone could suggest what could have happened had his last move not been made.

    I had spotted the chance to win the d-pawn, plus hoped I should have gone on to win from this position, queen and two pawns for a knight up.

    Still, I'm rather pleased by the result. Nice to have the scalp of such a good player.
