and why is gameknot so bad please?
OK I have not contributed to the forums and haven't done much more than play a few fairly speedy games so maybe haven't seen the bad things. There were a couple of things I didn't like, namely automatic time outs and the system putting me on vacation automatically because I only had a few hours left before my move (but I knew I had a few hours and would have moved so did not need an automatic vacation).
Originally posted by Dragon FireOK, I have a few cents for gameknot now too. They had been sending me messages about how I should unblock the advertisements on the site in my browser so that I wouldn't be taking advantage of the paying customers etc, and of course, I totally ignored all of them.

all of a sudden, yesterday I tried to get the pgn file of my past games (which I had periodically done before), and it didn't give permission to that because "I have been blocking ads", and it didn't make a difference when I unblocked them. Now I cannot even join anymore games, it seems the only thing I can do in that site from now on is to complete my ongoing games, then I will be as good as banned.
I too find Gameknot pretty bad now.
Originally posted by PureRWandBI have been praying for Nelson, his brother, and the family, and today I discovered his blog.
The reason why Chess-Knights closed because the administrator "Nelson" went to NY to save his brother's life. He donated his kidney for his brother, but I don't know how it turned out. Keep them in your prayers.
With some embarrassment, I would like to apologize to Nelson and his family. (Please know that my heart was in the right place)
It appears that I did not get the facts straight.
Pease read the following link and message from the man himself.
Glad to hear that his brother is doing better, and I'll continue to pray for Nelson with the aftermath of the car accident.
Sincerely,
Pure

The only real competitive sites to RHP that Ive seen are chess.com which is probably better than RHP now that there is no game moderation here and there is there. chesshere.com is also a good site that has as many features as here and you dont have to pay for them the interface doesnt look as good and the server is slow.
Originally posted by NorrisBI tried chess.com but I find RHP so much better. I found Chess.com to be too slow and too cumbersome for exactly the same features you'd find here. Maybe I'm wrong, but to put it into perspective I chose to subscribe with RHP over playing free with Chess.com and haven't regretted it since!
