The reason why Chess-Knights closed because the administrator "Nelson" went to NY to save his brother's life. He donated his kidney for his brother, but I don't know how it turned out. Keep them in your prayers.
although anything can always happen when you get under a knife, but it's not very probable.
and maybe I remember wrong, but wasn't the guy spamming his site here a year or two ago? wasn't it about money back then already? maybe I'm confusing him with someone else (there has been several scammers over time), but if it was how I remember, I'd kiss my money goodbye.
EDIT: didn't find any chessknight spam with search, so maybe I confused the guy with someone else. but it doesn't change the fact that a kidney transplant can't be the reason. no short time health issue can. it's not like a correspondence chess site couldn't run itself for a while, is it?
I am quite content here at RHP, but when this site went down for a few days, I had to fill my chess fix, and that's when I found Chess-knights.
The site was so much better then gameknot. Nelson was always there to answer any questions I had regarding the site. He was also on the forums as well.
As a non-contributing member you could play up to 50 or 60 games, tournements, etc.
There was no monthly or yearly fees, but for a one-time donation, you would have added benefits.
It wasn't as user-friendly as RHP but it had alot to offer and it was consistantly improving.
