Hi all

At some point in the everlasting "Cludi deciding to leave" thread there were an interesting discussion about the rating difference between CC and OTB.

I personally think that a rating difference of 100-200 points are quite normal but when we are talking 400,500 or maybe 600+ I just don't understand how that is possible.

But why not let the numbers speak for them self ? So anyone with an OTB rating please post it here together with your "average" RHP rating.

If you have not played OTB for many years you still might have a good idea of your OTB rating back then or you could do like me: I asked my father to find an old chess magazine with my latest rating ( he never throws anything away 🙂 )

RHP: 1950
OTB: 1807
Difference: 143

Yeah..so about that chess stuff...

Seriously, this topic is old as hell. Move on...

No, really..it's stupid...

Also, it has nothing to do with chess with the way that you've presented it.

It may be old hat but since when did ratings OTB or CC not have a place in chess since they define a persons chess ratings 😛

For some people, it works the other way around - my ICC Standard and RHP ratings are both lower than USCF.

RHP - 1598
ICC - ~1700
USCF - 1812

I have trouble concentrating on the computer, and I don't take the time I should in correspondence.

I have a lot of ratings (postal, otb and server). They are in no particular order: 1573, 2057, 1980, 1225, 2326, 1422, 1786, 1660, 2095, 1500.

Strange the way that the bigger ratings differences seem to occur with the people here who are rated 1900+.
You'd logically expect a few 1200 OTB/1600 RHP but no way 1500 OTB/1900 + RHP.

I don't understand how someone who is basically a patzer (allbeit a better than average patzer) rated, say 1500 OTB suddenly starts spotting advanced strategy, tactics & combinations, endgame theory needed to get to 1900+ on RHP.
The only explanation can be that they're chronic agrophobics!

I've been told to expect to be rated ECF 85-90 after my first OTB season. This is about 1500 ELO. My RHP rating ave. is around 1550-1600.

RHP: 1867 (a bit underrated I suppose)
ELO: ~ 2080 soon (a bit overrated I suppose)
Difference: 213

RHP 2318
Latvian rating (similar system to ELO) 2278
ELO 2169 (underrated as I have been played only in few ELO tournaments, most of them few years ago).

RHP Rating 1400-1800 ( Probably due to the game load) I am cutting back on my games.

OTB Rating 1669 ten years ago.
