Since queens were on the board I thought maybe he might overlook a checkmate or perpetual. Did not expect to win on material though.

that game could easily be drawn!
I think he saw a future knight d8 and couldn't think of any way to defend against it (losing his pawn). I know bishop e7 would do it but he probably didn't think of that. Fortunately for me. 🙂
And losing 1 more pawn was so upsetting to him that he resigned, i guess. Even draw I'd be happy with but am just glad i didn't lose! 🙂

p.s. If you or 1800 player had offered me draw (in this position) I'd probably accept maybe right away but if lower rated player offers I need to see if they can prove to me that they know how to do it first. He did not offer a draw to me though. If he had offered when i was losing I'd accepted it for sure of course. 🙂
What better way to introduce myself than demonstrating my iffy chess abilities by posting a game that I should definitely have lost but somehow managed to win?

And this thread is definitely great encouragement to not give up until the outcome is certain... 🙂
If you go a queen down that is not the end of the story. My opponent fought back brilliantly and deserved the win.
Game 3727408
many would resign after losing their queen, but the win is still so possible.
