Hey guys, I was hoping to switch things up a bit and start off with a fresh slate.
I've been playing the Giuoco and two knights since I started and I'm done with both.
What I was hoping you guys could help me with is finding a new opening as white and a new response to e4 rather than Kings pawn game.
I'm looking for tactical openings, with lots of traps that are more on the rare side; I hate closed games. The more open the better.
Suggestions are all appreciated!

With white try the King's Gambit for a highly tactical game and with black try the Sicilian defense. With that repertoire you can look forward to some very exciting games.

Edit: Oh and don't randomly resign games.

I'm trying to avoid the Sicilian, because it's the most used response to e4.
I want something more uncommon.

The Latvian Gambit then. You could try Alekhine's defense, but that allows white to transpose into very boring systems.

The Latvian is playable so long as you know what you're doing (I don't 🙂)

Why Borg? Aren't the Borg some half bio half machine scary creature things from Star Trek that put the frightners on Picard?

You are going to run into trouble where a move is either at least fairly common or it is not good. This game is nothing if not well studied.

1.e4 d6 (pirc) or e6 (french) are both playable.

The French would rather go against his criteria of "open" and "tactical."

What about white openings?
