Is there any official correspondance between RHP and classical Elo ratings? any plausible one?

no. and it's fundamentally impossible.

ratings are determined by the player pools, so there will always be differences, but I think RHP seems close enough.

Let me ask the question differently: Are there any RHP players also rated with the Elo scale (for they play in real clubs) ? could they tell us their two ratings, so that we have an approximate translation?

A couple of things to remember;

If someone improves a lot OTB and doesn't have a subscription, this improvement could lag in the RHP ratings and vice-versa for decline in chess abilities

People play very differently here than they do OTB

The formula used here has some differences from USCF and FIDE ratings

The pool of players is much different than that of OTB

With that in mind, my USCF rating is 1855, and my RHP is 1541.

yes, and it has been done a billion times before in threads exactly like this one. use the search.

the conclusion? it turns out people's otb ratings vary +- 600 points from rhp ratings to either direction. for some they happen to match, for some others there's next to zero correlation. and usually at that point some of the more clueless individuals from the former group start accusing the latter of cheating. then the thread gets closed.

You can skew your RHP rating by playing only lower rated players. I don't think it is so easy to skew your OTB rating.

Ok! thank you very much, your negative answers seem pretty convincing... Sorry for disturbing everyone with these already asked questions 🙂

No need to apologize. There are alot of us out there who would like to know what our approximate ratings would be based on our internet ratings.

Perhaps if we were to take multiple ratings at multiple sites, it would give a better overall approximation.

For instance, my rating here is about 1400, my Standard rating at FICS is about 1400 and my Blitz rating at FICS is about 1100. Those are all the places that I play.

I'm guessing that lands me somewhere around 1200 if I were to play OTB.

What does 787 translate into? Does that make you below a class e player?

I agree. Ratings (be they ELO, RHP or other) are an approximation of one's playing strength based on a math formula. Normally they are fairly close to one's actual strength, but never exact.😏

most likely he has not played enough games in the USCF to have an acurate rating

It is also possible that he hasn't played OTB in quite a while. Your rating is your rating. If you haven't played OTB in quite some time, then that rating may not reflect the present strength.

If I didn't go back to FICS after my lay off, then I'd be 1400 here and 850 over there.

yeah on playchess.com, my rating are just abysmal

I have a 1300 standard, 1200 Blitz....
on CTS I have 1605, chesstempo = 1952, so what really is my rating?
