I think it would be fun to have a site-wide contest for the most brilliant move. 🙂
Post games which you played, and made (in your mind) a brilliant, and unexpected move. The kind that'd earn you a double exclaimation point. For every game you post, point out the move that you're entering. The entire game will not be considered, only the move pointed out. You each person may post three games. You may not enter the games of another person.
After we have sufficient entries, we'll all cast votes for the most brilliant move among them. The voting will be conducted just as the Literary Contest, or the Photography contest were in the General Forum. You'll get to rank a certain number of games (depending on how many we have). I'll tally the results, and give a winner, and various other places. Please remember, when voting, only consider the move pointed out, and not the rest of the game.
Ok, post those games!
Okay so I don't make that many good moves, but I'll enter my favorite that I can find.

Originally posted by Kyosorry I don't get the brilliance. Just looks like he could have captured your rook after move 23. I'm surely missing something though, please explain for my learning experience.
This one comes to mind.
Game 557990 White move 23
Originally posted by KyoVery nice. If you don't mind, I'm going to explain that one. BTW, you may add explainations to your moves to help clarify what makes them great if the game didn't demonstrate it. If Qxc4 then Qf3 and black has no way to prevent mate. If the queen moves anywhere after Bg2, then Qf3 again forces mate.

I still have to pick three from five of mine.

I have two moves that I remember. Both moves in complicated situations with a lot of options. Finding the right (best) one is then difficult. Anyway, here they are:
Game 127632
Move 20. It took me a very long time too find this move. Moving my bishop away to the back rank was not obvious for me. After that it was a forced mate.
Game 1108543
My move 22.
In itself not the greatest move maybe, but given the complicated (at least for me 😕) situation, the fact that my opponent was rated 300 points higher than me, and the fact that I would for sure win a pawn and probably the game made it a glorious 😏 moment for me.
Hope you like them.

Ok, I've picked my three!
Game 1044041 my move 27.
Game 1002504 my move 27 again. forced mate.
Game 1076871 my move 29. has to give me his queen back to stop mate, and I have a huge advantage. The way the game went, I had a forced mate with 32. Bf6 Ke8 33. Re7+ Kd8 34. Ne6+ Kc8 35. Rh1 g3+ 36. Kg1 Qb6 37. Rh8+ Qd8 38. Rxd8#
Originally posted by ark13Very good explanation ark13. I forgot to include it myself since I thought people would see the mate threat.
Good question. Qc7 is met by Qa8#. Rd7 is probably the best try, after which follows Re8+ and if Kc7 then Qb7#, and if Rd8 then Qb7#
That was probably my most favourite game. I liked Bg2 as it was a quiet move filled with poison. Positioning the bishop on the long diagonal and pushing the queenside pawns to open blacks king position helped set this up though.
Im proud of this one because its deep and complicated and thats just what im NOT good at!
Game 1113293
the move c5 by black/me wins.
