If non subscribers could be allowed in just this one tournament, it would have been so much funπ I completely understand the reasoning for subscription and the 6 games max rule but some adjustments so that games of this tourney do not count towards that limit. Afterall, this is a site level mega tournament and just for this one non-subcribers may please be allowed. I know I will get a 100 dislikes for this post but just a thoughtπ
Russ, just think about it. May be a minimum qualification of 25000 moves/500 games for non subscribers to qualify.

This happen to me. I used to had a good rating, but a newcomer with software destroy me in an open tournament. You never recover of something like that.

If you play many more tournaments you can recover.
I am always in for the experience, I'm not even a mediocre player but I have beaten Sbacat 3 times who is 2000+ so I might have a chance??? But then, Sbacat was only a 1300 rated player when I won, he/she has improved a lot???

Amazing, is it not ? I am playing Sbacat several games and cannot believe that a short time ago he was a 1300 player, lol. I see a lot of that.

If I could improve as quick then I might be able to give you a decent game Caissad!!!
Could someone please explain how the time controls work? And confirm only one game at a time is played?
I'm a little gunshy - I entered one tournament one time and ended up with 40 games at once, and I did not care to play that many. Resigned them all and my rating took quite a temporary hit.

Not sure whose graph you're looking at but it isn't mine.
I was 1300 the summer of 2008; climbed into the 1500's September 2008; took until September 2010 to climb into the 1700's; then March 2012 to get into the 1800's; and only reached the 1900's in April 2014.
I know time flies when you're having fun, but that didn't feel like a meteoric rise to me. I've entered the championship, but I have no illusions about making it past the first round and I'm fine with that. π

(hell, I might not even blitz this time!)
I'd love that. Those were two of the wildest games I think I've played on here. The most memorable games are the ones where you get yourself horribly in trouble and manage to squeak out of it by the skin of your teeth.
Get out of book early, play fast, and hope you see something your opponent missed. Or way too often, not. π
Just purchased a subscription for a year, the primary reason so I can enter this tournament. Shame to hear that some users are cheating, but I will give it my best shot and see if I can improve my rating. Note to self: Do not give up Queen cheaply. π
