Haha, I would be incredibly surprised if they couldn't because K+R vs. K is an easy win.

i've seen K+R+R beat K+R without swapping rooks. perhaps it was just bad defense on the part of K+R

If a particular endgame can be simplified into an easy win, then generally, it is won.

unless the other side could create a fortress, and/or create a "check defense"
