I used to play this as white when I was young. I was always surprised how many players on the other side would take the "free pawn" after 5. 0-0.

Now, I love to play the black side of this.

    Bg4, f6, Be6, Qe7, Bc5, 0-0-0, and storm the kingside.

Well if you look at the main openings of Garry Kasparov and Bobby Fischer you might be surprised.

If you feel comfortable with an 'endgame' type of opening as white, try
1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bxc6 dxc6 4.d4 ... most black players will gladly play 4. ... exd4 5.Qxd4 Qxd4 6.Nxd4 ... and think the game is a dead draw. But it is far from dead. Imagine all the pieces off the board, and white is far better.

I once drew against a strong GM as black OTB in this line, so I don't think the endgame is anything special for white. 6...Bd7! followed by 0-0-0=

That is not contradictory to what I said. The "=" does not mean "dead draw" though. I am sure that your opponent, a strong GM, did not just start the game with a draw in mind. I would say : well done to you. And yes, Bd7 is the best reply.
