Is anyone playing in this congress this year? If so, what section will you be entering? I'm going to be there and I'm playing in the open.
Oh yes - good luck with your games!
An Anthony Ibbitson is in the Open.
Both of you say hello to this guy for me.
Alastair White (190) Edinburgh. A very old dear friend.
(his club says Edinburgh but he no longer lives here).
Just say; "Geoff says hello."
Watch him, he's good - he once swindled Smyslov of all people
in an ending!!
Good Luck to you both.
Thanks mate, I will look out for him. I hope to do well but as you can see, I'm the lowest graded player in the open so will struggle however, this season I drew with a 170 and beat a 148! Just missed out on draws with a 160 & 165 due to time trouble, luckily there's more time at congresses so shouldn't have that problem!
Don't worry about grades.
It just means these other guys have had easier games
than you in their local leagues.
Use your low grade as a weapon.
Play solid risk free stuff. They will suddenly realise you are not
going to blunder they will have to try and win a drawn game
or attack a perfectly well developed position.
Then you strike!
I see you are another 1.b3 guy.
Game 6782224 is what you 1.b3 guys must dream about.
Your website is very very good.

I've just left there, had trouble solving the 2 Knights v pawn problem.
Just got it. (I could not get my cage closed).
All the other features are really very good, one of the best club
sites I've seen.
