We'll have to hook up at some point. I live in Kalispell which is just to the other side of spokane. lol.
So your like always 200 miles away!
We're five weeks away from the Collyer--Spokane's best annual tournament, except in 2009.
In 2009, the Collyer will be better than normal, but we also have the Wash State Elementary in April, and the Washington Open in May
There will be folks from Montana and Seattle at the Collyer.
Originally posted by WulebgrYou have any information about that?

Perhaps I should get into that, so I can get a proper OTB rating.
I've never played in a live tournament.

Originally posted by NowakowskiI've played him a couple of times, and gave him a ride back to his hotel last year. I don't know him well, but have seen him at quite a few tournaments. Also know others from Missoula--McBroom, McCourt, Romey are the most frequent that cross the mountains for chess. I played McCourt and Nowak in an event that McBroom ran in Missoula in the 1990s. I've known much of the Montana crowd since then.
Greg Nowak is an incredible player.
At least as far as I'm concerned.
He'd be a great addition to RHP if we could get him!
Do you know him personally?

There's usually a Spokane group at Montana events, too, but I'm rarely among them due to other commitments.

How many players do you personally expect for that Collyer?
Originally posted by NowakowskiI think we'll see 70 or so at the Collyer. Last year's 67 was a record, and I expect growth.

IM John Donaldson will probably be the top rated player again, and he's doing a lecture and simul the evening before it begins.
He was the coach for the US Olympiad Team that brought home a bronze medal, so I expect he'll talk about that in his lecture.
Originally posted by NowakowskiActually I might not be leaving untill sunday or monday. I've just booked the hotel through saturday at the very least. So I'll be here.
Any players in this area that would want to play OTB tonight, or in the morning? I'm currently visiting this area and will be leaving in the morning to go back home. (At least thats the big plan!)

Any takers please? It'd be neat to meet at least one player while I'm here!
