oh dear. Apologies are in order to the rest of the white team, who I just badly screwed... I still haven't gotten used to algebraic notation. I meant, a couple moves ago, to move the OTHER bishop, to d3.

Of course, I realize this, when I look at the last couple of moves. I spent 20 minutes sitting there thinking "why on earth did black move the knight to d4, there's a bishop sitting right there to capture it, and it doesn't impair the attack at all." Then I realized, there IS no attack, and there is no bishop sitting there to hold back the knight! I typed the wrong bishop...

I suppose it's WAY too late to correct that!

oh, the shame... *commits seppuku*

You mean : "why on earth did black move the knight to f4...." ? right?
Ah, that algebraic notation πŸ˜€ Why on earth would one know descriptive notation better than algebraic? (descriptive notation is "extinct" today isn't it?) πŸ˜•

Yesh. f4. Yea. See what I mean? I'm bloody incapable of algebraic notation. I don't know why -- I think it comes from trying to directly install Lasker's book (can't remember the title) into my brain. Descriptive just seems a bit more intuitive to me -- says which piece goes where, as opposed to saying which square goes where. Or something. I can immediately see Q-KB3 in my mind's eye, I can't see Q-D3 (E3?? I guess it depends on the color... maybe???) which requires more visualization to me. Anyway.

You know what I'm gonna do? I'm going to start a third collective game! Yea! And it's going to be the same rules as this game, except only moves in descriptive notation are allowed! :-)

Since nobody seems to be playing these, I thought I'd give a bit of controversy, and I guess I'm white, now...

Here's the FEN: r1q2r1k/ppp3pp/2n1b3/4N3/3B1n2/2P4P/P1Q1BPP1/3R1RK1 b - - 0 20

paste it (alt-shift-v) into Winboard from http://www.tim-mann.org/xboard.html to get right into the game.
