I am amazed! I have been playing this guy in a tournament and sent him two or three warning messages when he's over the time limit. What do I get in return? He skulled me the first time I missed the time limit WITHOUT WARNING.
I will now claim timeouts immediately the time control is breached as with the new vacation system there is no excuse.
If people are moving elsewhere and not with you they don't deserve to win.

Yeah, this really sucks, but it's understandable.
3 weeks without computer cost me 300 points last September. [🙁]
What I really don't like is people who insist on playing 1/0 games then time you out Sunday. Why not wait until Monday? Have the decency. Come on, Sunday is for church! [🙂]
i click it more often than not but occasionally hold off depending on my mood lol
Originally posted by ChessJesterI agree, that way the focus is on you making your move on time, not about whether your opponent is 'nice' enough to wait for you. People couldn't get upset at other people for skulling them because it is simply automatic.
in any tournament game if you run out of time you lose instantly... why is this no different? In my opinion they should have a feature that automatically awards a win when someone times out.
Skulling someone is very different that having your opponent's flag fall. IMHO, loss by the skull is not about chess performance--getting flagged IS about performance.
In timed chess, two players agree to a time limit and must make their moves within that limit- take a big think and you must deal with time pressure later- time management is a chess skill. On RHP, nobody times out because they've been thinking the whole time- they forget, are busy, etc. Losing by skull is about not dealing with your computer move in time- no more no less.
That said, I'm fine with folks who skull- it's part of the rules we agree to on RHP.

Afraid so.

Most often I find my opponent dropping dozens of games to timeouts due to complete abandonment. Their rating is in a free fall. Perhaps they're a 1700 player with a rating that has dropped to 1100. If you don't take the skull and the person comes back, you'll have to fight hard to gain almost no points. If you lose, you pay dearly, perhaps 31 rating points when the game is actually evenly matched.
My most recent skull was from someone who was stalling in a completely lost game and who had moved in other games.
A simple e-mail or valid vacation notice is enough to keep me from claiming skulls, but that almost never happens.

If I can manage in such circumstances anyone can!
For valid reasons I will give you a break but most of the time people are moving elsewhere but not in your game.
