I like chess.I like to read about the history and the players.I like chesspuzzles.I like to watch a pretty combination unfold.I like discussing opening ideas and ensuing middlegame plans.I like talking about chess.
What I least like is actually playing a game.To me that's a bit like work.Odd,isn't it?
I wonder if there are others with this same chess deficiency?

Maybe you don't like the moment of confrontation and testing implied by the actual game, and you prefer more friendly discussions?
(this is a very random explanation... my apologies for this)
I don't mind feeling this way but do find it strange that playing is what I like least of all aspects. After all, playing is the purpose of chess and should be fun.
But,as Jonathan suggests,maybe it's not at all uncommon π
Originally posted by JonathanB of LondonI'd like to nuance this a little, there's a french saying: ' you call it work as soon as you would like to do something else'. As such, I must say, i lived up to it until now, as soon as something gets boring, needs an effort, i change; same with chess. When it gets to a point i don't consider it fun anymore, i leave it. Everything should be done and is so much easier when you have fun doing it.
..As you say, actually playing chess is really hard work.
