In this game my opponent played a better opening but instead of regaining his pawn he tries the greek gift. I thought I could defend but that the position is hairy!
What thinkst thou? Any chess programs or players who can analyse this and tell me if I was right to castle into it?

also, white should capture en passant on move 13!
he missed two important moves
Originally posted by WeadleyI think I would have resigned at the point he did, he has invested a lot of material and his compensation dwindled after not going for the piece on move 13.
I dont see why your opponent resinged.
I would have played on for sure and got the knight back.
But he is quick to resign, in our first game, I got a slight advantage
Game 1073773 and he resigned ... maybe prematurely.

Originally posted by hypermo2001I disagree: if you have sufficient control of e5 you can resist the attack. The problem is that players try the greek gift idea too much. I am yet to see a line yet that demonstrates an edge for white after the sac.

ps I have Vukovic's "Art of Attack"
Have you noticed a lot of his analysis seems well dodgy, but maybe you have a newer fritzed version.
Originally posted by demonseedI did not see it MUST work...only that you MUST consider it and analyze the lines...

I have the edition edited by John Nunn...computer analyzed and annotated/revised. Also, it's in algebraic.
Originally posted by hypermo2001I have the old version it's a bit hit and miss but very good. There are a lot of lines where you think to yourself what if white tries x? etc

I did consider the sacrifice, in fact I hoped my opponent would try it because I thought it was not on in this particular case.
