It`s not reason to spam - so if you cant post games in Latvian gambit (or posting something useful) then please be so kind and stop posting in this thread.

Dutch...why don't you try the PCG...it works better.

Or even the Cordel...or the Schliemann!

The Latvian gambit sucks, but I've been farting about with the opening losing games with it. I am starting to get intrested in it. I hope I am not stupid enough to play it in a club match 😛

I think that Korch is a very good player, but I have to disagree with him regarding the Latvian Gambit. In the above-mentioned game I used current theory plus the website http://www.jeremysilman.com/chess_opng_anlys/040410_latvian_gambit.html which I found quite useful. I have to say it was relatively easy to obtain a big opening advantage, after which fairly normal natural moves were sufficient to achieve the win.

I don't wish to be a spoil sport. I know that aficionados of the Traxler (Wilkes-Barre) Counter Gambit hate me too, but in the final analysis you have to try to be objective. As a natural gambit player, I would love the Latvian and Traxler Counter Gambits to be sound, but wishful thinking only gets you so far.

On chesslive.de after 8...Nc6 this scores 7-0 in white's favour.

I think that in the traxler if things go south for black that he can usually get a perpetual check.

In the above game Game 4103738 Korch reckons that 12...g6 was weak. He may be right, but I think black was quite a bit worse anyway.

Not in the Bxf7+ lines.
