Hi

Just logged on and always look at the few mates that greet you
to if one looked an interesting game.

This final position stood out.

I'm not a fan of those as being games shown, they may be to attract new users but if a game goes to checkmate usually it is played by lesser players. The best game usually finish resigned so I don't even bother looking at these, especially as you can't see rating to at least give you an idea of the standard to expect.

Though, interesting final position in this one.

I've often pondered that one as well.

When someone sees the quality of theses games is it a turn off or
do they think, Hey a bunch of normal chess players, I'll get on well here.

Yes, I remember seeing that one. How does the system pick which games to show? This one finished on 21st April.

I think it picks them at random - but it must end in a mate.
So if you are getting beat, resign else you will end up on the frint screen.

that would explain why the ones on the front page are always lower ranked players?
I've never been checkmated yet @RHP, my goal is always to resign long before. It just makes the loss feel better.
