Bloody hell!
Someone played the St.George against me,in a blitzgame on ICC.First time ever.He played a double fianchetto,not a single piece of his,crossed the 5th rank before move 14!
Left me puzzled....speechless.....planless.....
Lucky he wasn't a good player,he missed some tactics,so I still won,but,JESUS!
I think I'm gonna try that one myself 😀

I just won a game as white against St. George's Defense this past week and I was also impressed with the strategies and ideas...My opponant only gave me the queenside look...no fianchetto on the King side. The board looked quite grotesque for a while...I was afraid to look for fear something else would come flying in out of nowhere. I beat someone on Chessmaster with it, but certain moves have to be transposed if 2.Bc4.

In this thread www.redhotpawn.com/board/showthread.php?threadid=13704, HuntingBear, an excellent player here who regularly uses the St. George, explains the basic strategic points of the defense. Have fun!
