Getting back to legitimately rare items: Almost every game will, at some time, have a doubled pawn. Occasionally you see a triple pawn. You also occasionally see two adjacent doubled pawns.

I think (I'll post a link later as the game is still ongoing) that I missed a forced mate which depending upon his response to my threat could have resulted in mate this way.
