I was checking to make sure it wasn't April 1st. 😲

If the FIDE convalidates the challenge offered by Danailov (Kramnik is forced to accept it) I think we'll have the circus going around again. But take note that it will take place in Bulgaria... sigh

The part about it taking place in Bulgaria is probably the least crazy fact of the entire thing - after all, presuming we magically get Kramnik to agree to actually having this match, even he'd probably be ok with that location, since the previous match was in Russia.

If the FIDE aproves the challenge, Kramnik MUST accept. He can't refuse to play.

Anyway, the point I've tried to make was the paranoid attitude from Topalov (see the 1st post in this thread).

Nope. crazy-bobby would just left a match under protest.
He never was a whining sore loser as Topalov is.

In light of the radioactive hotelliers running around London, is kremlin intervention such a barmy notion ?

I'd suspect from any russian chess player who offers me a drink that glows in the dark... 😛

Well, yes, but FIDE won't be accepting it for a variety of reasons (mainly timing). I should have phrased what I said a little better, though - it should read more like "If this match actually had any chance of going off, the fact that it was in Bulgaria would be the least surprising bit."

You know, I hate to say it but what if he's right? He might not be as crazy as he sounds.

Topalov has the right to say what he wants ... but the " World Chess Championship " ( with all the scandals, unfair players, etc ) is a dead word to me .
