Hi all

I was in a situation today where I was losing a 5-0 blitz game, but saw that my opponent was under some time pressure and made some idle moves (put him in check, etc) to see if I can eek out a win by letting his clock run dry. That worked 🙂 but afterwards the person messages me and says I should be a gentleman and we both know I was going to lose that game etc and blahblah. Now, I have never played club chess and I am not really familiar with all the right ethics... was I in the wrong by winning the game the way I did?

Blitz is blitz..that is why time pressure is of the essence.

Your win is fair and square.

I beat Asa Hoffman at the NY Open in 98 for $5 doing the same thing...I played the PCG and after down a piece and a few pawns just started making weird moves to make him think.

It worked 😀

And that was a 2 minute game
