What a nonsense! 3.e5 is played even in GM`s level and one of the best specialists in this line is GM Jevgeny Sveshnikov, who have written book about this line. Also database itself can`t prove quality of line.

3.e5 makes black's effort to mobilize his or her pieces more difficult, but the advanced pawn may become weak as black undermines the white center. It is a reasonable plan for white (if anything reasonable follows from the blunder on move one: 1.e4?? 😉).

Edit: clicking the trash can will hardly give you any experience against it for when you can't (i.e. clan or tournament games).
Weyerstrass could beat me with piece odds...

I'll play you and Zebano in time..when I have less games IP.

I'll even play 1.e4 and let you play the French. 😉

well the point is that i havn't studied it like many others have. i am just now broadening my openings and trying to cram a lot in at once. the french may be a fun opening to learn to play as black thats probably how i'll play better against it is to just play with it.

I sometimes play the Milner-Barry Gambit as White versus the French Defense: 1 e4 e6 2 d4 d5 3 e5 c5 4 c3 Nc6 5 Nf3 Qb6 6 Bd3 cd 7 cd Bd7 8 Nc3 Nd4 9 Nd4 Qd4 10 O-O Qe5 11 Re1.

A very lively game is in progress!

Another try is the Alapin Variation: 1 e4 e6 2 d4 d5 3 Be3 de 4 Nd2. Leads to play similar to the Blackmar-Diemer Gambit: 1 e4 e6 2 d4 d5 3 f3 de 4 Nc3.
