does anyone have some good games with the french where white won with the closed variation 1.e4 e6 2.d4 d5 3.e5 c5 and any variations that deviate from this i'm interested in. i can play the open french quiet well but when it comes to the closed french i get killed and want to know how to better my play in it. thanks

I'm not one to give up easily but I've always found the best reply to 1.e4...e6 is to click the little dustbin icon in the "action" column.

I don't think the French is that difficult for white really, it's just that most 1.e4 players don't study it, and thus feel uncomfortable in the positions.

Haha, I don't think the French Defense is exactly 'sacred.'

According to the games explorer on here (which randomly omits games...) I score 100% against the French Defense.

NOr has he played Weyerstrass, or even me...

Edit: clicking the trash can will hardly give you any experience against it for when you can't (i.e. clan or tournament games).

What do you do against it OTB, then? Overthrow the table? Run to the toilet? Punch your opponent in the face? 😛

no accually e5 is a bad choise for white
