Having dipped my toe in the water of uchess, I'm tempted to pull it straight out again. The fast games are great (would be good to add to RHP), but the *people*...
Try to find out who on RHP plays there, and spot them when they go in. You don't get all the crap that u get with some other players then.

I've tried a few other blitz sites and honestly Uchess is as good if not better than most. It seems blitz draws a large share of players that hurl insults, regardless of whether they're winning or losing. Not all mind you, but a lot.

All these sites are leagues ahead of yahoo, pogo, etc.
After one unpromising comment at the start of a game I decided to forfeit rather than endure the whole game, but to my surprise the game didn't count to the ratings.
So I think you can just quit at the start with out penalty (having witnessed the initial verbal rubbish.
Plus, have had some very interesting discussions there.

A lot of jerks there, that's for sure.
Message log from a game against some guy named 'realtor':
Me: Good luck!
realtor: **** u!
realtor: just play
realtor: i got nothin to say to you
realtor: ****
Me: Err, thanks!
And it seems that most people prefer to play 1/0 games.

Having said that, I've chatted to some quite pleasant people at uchess. Also some others, to be sure, but to some extent, that's teh interwebs for you. Bullet chess has no appeal for me, and I almost always play 10/5 or 15/5, so perhaps I'm missing some of it...
Any way to turn the messages off? I know on ICC you can, and believe me it's necessary to ward off the 5%subnormals that frequent all these sites. I hate to do it, because normally players are polite, but you always get the crazies out there when you least expect it. Some of them even go crazy when they find out you turned the messaging off, because after the game is over I sometimes get rants and raves and insulting remarks that I should dare to do such a thing. I submitted complaints to ICC, but nothing happens that you know about. It all just disappears in cyberspace. There should be some kind of a button you hit immediately that sounds an alarm and gives a warning to the offensive player immediately, sort of like when someone tries to break into your car. Are you aware there is a group of people out there called "griefers" who's primary goal is to disrupt games and insult participants. Like hackers, they get their kicks from destroying sites. the game means nothing to them. It's the other game they like better.
