I was pretty proud of this game. My opponent was 10-0 in his record so far. I made a few pawn sacrifices, but later in the game I sacrificed a Knight for attacking opportunities. Im not really positive I it was sound. Later my opponent resigned. Did he resign too early?
I kinda feel that he did.

check it out.

Thanks.

It seems like he could have counter attacked my queen and won a knight for his lost queen and I end up with a queen and a rook against half his army. His Knight could have taken my Knight and attacked my queen.

why didn't he take your knight on move 20?

I agree Wealdy.

I think perhaps he conceeded cos he was loosing his rook.

I enjoyed our game tremendously.

I would like to challenge you when I have a slot soon.

Or I subscribe.

I am in the 1200+ and cant figure this out. cos on the table in real life I play a better standard.

Anyway....

Hi Fred, If he took my knight on move 20 ( like i was hoping he would)
It would have been the trojan horse. I would have skewered his queen to his king sooner then I did. I was actually playing for that tactice a bit earlier too.

Hi Celtic.. we shall have to play again it was fun playing and chatting.

If I was black, I wouldn't have given up right away. I would have played Nxc6 attacking the queen and rook. If white responded bishop takes queen, I would respond bishop takes bishop. White's queen and rook would be in trouble. White could get out, but it would call for careful play, because there are some traps.

I'm going to have to disagree and say the resignation was called for. Here's what I saw

Black: NxNc6
BxQe6+
BxBe6 (also has Kxe6 but does do anything different after Qc4+)
Qb7+ (to get the queen out of attack)
Ne7 (or Kg6)
RxRa8
RxRa8
QxRa8

Now it's a queen and rook against three pieces, easy win. Did I miss anything?

Thanks.
Black was toast.

It would have ended up being a queen + Rook vs 2 Bishops and a knight endgame.

[EDIT] Didn't see Ark's analysis when I posted this. Pretty much how I saw it too

Thanks Ark ,, no you didnt miss anything. I am still kinda green and would have been scared that his 3 pieces would dominate my queen and rook. I was worried that I wouldnt be able to bring home the bacon.

Thanks too Ragnorak.

After Ne7, RxRa8, Bd5 wins back the rook.

Then it would be a queen and rook versus a rook two bishops and a knight.

And if the queen takes the rook first things could turn out different, but I think most people would have played rook takes rook. I guess this is enough editing.
