are there any chess sites that explain the strategies of all the openings. I would like to know the logic behind some chess openings.

it doesn't explain the openings in any detail but it does give a 1 line explanation as to why each move is made. I find that by flicking through the opening lines I see the purpose of the earlier moves. It's a good site but limited to the major openings.

I have seen 500 page books that can't explain every opening. That being said the best sources on openings are definately books. I have not found any one website that fleshes out all openings well.

Try the book: "Ideas Behind The Chess Openings" by Reuben Fine.
Clear and consise, still a classic. Won't go hugely in depth, but explains common pawn structures and the more common variations.

Absolutely brilliant - that one. Probably not of much use for master-level players, but great for players who've been playing for a while and want to raise their game.
