That's what I was thinking.

Russ announced months ago in the thread 'Anti Drawing Measures'
that from now on all draws are to be given as a Black win.
(Unless of course Black wins...then it's a draw).

Nimzo cannot force Black to win and as Black does not want to win
(else the game would be drawn). Now Nimzo's resignation makes perfect sense.

I suggest some of you look at the Announcements Forum from time to time
as this will stop you from looking foolish in the future.

Well spotted Nimzo, with your extra pawn you were in danger
of winning (which as you know makes the game null and void).
So by this timely resignation you get at least ½ a point.

Is this chess really? nimzo5 resigns in the following two games.

Game 8554027

Game 8554046

Looks like Ludo to be honest not chess.

I don't think its chess either. The results, of course, are up to the players.

I am extremely confident that there is a very logical explanation, and I am also very certain that said explanation will never appear here as tabloid fodder.

I am extremely confident that people of sound mind do not resign games of chess willy nilly when they are up or level unless they are trying to donate rating points. The objective of playing a game of chess is not to resign the game when up materially or when level.

Even someone of your level (circa 1500 FIDE Elo) should know this without asking stockingfish or Free Willy.

No need to be rudely personal, as it only diminishes whatever point you have.

The point is that you know the game was resigned, but you have no basis for the "willy nilly" part.

You can speculate as to why the game was resigned, but to suggest that donating rating points is the only reason is just silly.

There have been an incredibly large number of causes for resignations from such positions on the site, ranging from deaths in the family, terminal cancer, shameless bribes, suspicion that one's opponent uses an engine, apathy, and a host of others.

You just don't know, and your extreme confidence is more a reflection of you than of the game, unfortunately.

You have much to learn about the politics etc of the game.
