I've posted here for a while, but never played CC (always been more into instant gratification; i.e., blitz). I started playing CC here a few weeks ago and I've been looking forward to changing that "p1200." Well, my first 3 games ended in wins and of my 5 games in progress, 2 are clearly won positions (I know, I know, no comments on those games).

I know I should be patient and wait. But, sue me, I'm kind of excited about my impending (knock on wood) 5-0 start.

I'm not gonna start off at, like, 1210, am I? 🙂

Don't worry about your rating after 5 games, it doesn't mean anything. Play a couple of hundred games and you'll have a more accurate idea of where you stand.

Although your rating shows up as locked at 1200 in the profile until 5 games, you can see the actual provisional value in the PGN (choose 'Get PGN of this game'😉.

Looks like right now you're at 1476.

Ratings are pretty meaningless for the 1st 20 games and can even appear to go down if you win.

Avoid that by playing slightly tougher opposition.

If you can beat quite high rated players in your first 5 games - you can get a massive rating!!!

Woohoo!

I finally got my rating. 1462! Not bad (for me, anyway). It will probably come down eventually, but hey, I'll enjoy it while it lasts.

That's about where mine started. It took a big jump though when I joined a clan and started playing more opponents.
